North Hulme Adventure Playground – New youth facility opens
11/10/2004

On Friday 15th October local MP Tony Lloyd MP will join a group of young people from the centre to perform the official opening of the new youth annex at North Hulme Adventure Playground.

The adventure playground was set up over 30 years ago and has offered year round play facilities for children and young people throughout the many changes in the community during these years. In recent years the centre has been successful in developing wider provision to meet the specific needs of an older age range and has developed daytime and evening youth work facilities. Increased attendance highlighted the real need for additional space and Manchester Young Lives is extremely grateful for the funding provided by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, the Crime & Disorder Partnership and Better Choices (Manchester Connexions), which has enabled us to build and fit out the annex.

This extra space means that we will be able to offer more specialised sessions and support to young people. The annex includes an activity room and an IT room where we will be developing IT classes and job search facilities for young people and a homework club for adventure playground users. It will benefit all children and young people who use our centre and will mean that the adventure playground will now have indoor provision for 50 children, double the previous capacity.
