It is always great to see members of our Manchester Young Lives team receiving recognition for their hard work and dedication. This month we have been particularly proud of our staff and young people, who have represented our organisation at three different awards ceremonies. Across these brilliant events we are delighted to announce that two awards were won, and MYL’s play provision placed as a finalist in another.

The first ever Manchester Youth Buzz Awards was held this year, to celebrate the positive contributions that young people are making to the city. At this event, on 3rd November, our Youth Ambassador Demi Mullings was crowned winner of the Young Leaders Award.

On behalf of everyone at MYL, we would like to extend a huge congratulations to Demi. This really is a remarkable achievement, and well deserved.

On 22nd November, our Play and Youth manager Elaine Young headed down to London with lead Play and Youth worker Laura Lacey for the Children and Young People Now 2017 awards 2017. They were accompanied by trustee Rosemary Knox and Deputy CEO Suzanne Cere.

This is the third year in a row that MYL has been a finalist for CYPN national award. It is always an honour to be invited to take part in this special night, which celebrates the success of the sector.

The Manchester Be Proud awards provides important recognition to some of the everyday heroes in Manchester’s communities. We were also thrilled to see Kaleef Pearson named Volunteer of the Year 2017 at these awards, on 24th November.

As a young person Kaleef attended MYL for a number of years, and subsequently he has volunteered much of his time to support us. He is an incredibly hard-working individual, and this smashing event was a welcome opportunity to celebrate his exceptional efforts.

Needless to say, we are bursting with pride here at Manchester Young Lives.
