It’s been pleasure to welcome children and young people back to our adventure playgrounds in Wythenshawe, Moss Side and Ardwick for play sessions and so nice to hear everyone having fun and reconnecting with their friends. This has been possible thanks to the extremely hard work and commitment from our staff teams, who have ensured that our centres remain a safe space for children to come and express themselves through play. Play sessions reopened to children on 7th July and our Summer Playschemes began on 20th July.

Morning and afternoon sessions are currently taking place on our Summer Playschemes to ensure that the largest number of children possible are able to access our provision. Participant numbers and activities on offer have been redesigned to ensure that they comply with social distancing regulations set out by the government, with a booking system in place for places on sessions and our outdoor spaces being used as much as possible. Activities on offer include arts and crafts, sports and games centred on our unique adventure playgrounds and outdoor equipment, we have also been working with our partners from Forum Leisure who are providing a dedicated sports coach to support delivery.

The feedback received from children and young people on sessions has been overwhelmingly positive commenting on how much they have missed our staff and playgrounds. As we all move towards a new ‘normal’ everyone at Manchester Young Lives is excited for a summer of fun!
