Jeff Mills has more than 40 years’ experience working with young people’s organisations across West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester, Jeff has held a wide range of roles including front‑line delivery, programme development, and senior leadership. His career has centred on supporting marginalised and at‑risk young people within diverse communities, and he has extensive expertise in budget management, strategic planning, team leadership, and partnership work.
Jeff teaches 16–18‑year‑olds at The Manchester College, giving him a real, day‑to‑day understanding of what young people are facing right now. He’s known for being respectful and collaborative, and he strikes a great balance between bringing people together and asking the important questions, always in a constructive, down‑to‑earth way.
Jeffs motivation for joining Manchester Young Lives is grounded in a deep belief in the charity’s proven impact and commitment to helping young people reach their full potential. He brings sector knowledge, practical experience, and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by voluntary organisations delivering play, youth and post 16 services.
Having served as a MYL trustee between 2003 and 2020, Jeff has rejoined the board, motivated by his long‑standing dedication to Manchester Young Lives and his commitment to understanding the broader issues facing young people across the city. We are pleased to welcome Jeffs skills and expertise back to the board.
